Practical Paleo will always hold a special place in my heart, as the 1st edition was the very first book I ever received when I switched to a paleo-lifestyle, nearly 4 years ago. This book made such a powerful impact in my life, and it taught me that the key getting my health back would be thinking outside of the box, which is exactly what I do everyday now. With so many paleo books out on the market, it can be tough to even know where to begin, and Practical Paleo is the book that I always recommend as the best go-to resource, and now it’s updated to be even more incredible in the 2nd edition!
To say that changing my diet changed my life is a HUGE understatement. I am forever grateful to Diane Sanfilippo, the author of Practical Paleo, for putting her work out into this world so that so many of us can benefit. I had a total Oprah, “ah ha!” moment while I was reading through this book for the first time, as it opened my eyes to a whole new world, where healing through food isn’t only possible, but actually really simple. It was the first time I’d ever heard the term “leaky gut” and I started to understand how I could heal my own body.
If you have the 1st edition of Practical Paleo, you already know just how amazing it is! The 2nd edition is even better and loaded with 480 pages of incredible information and delicious recipes! It has 2 brand new chapters, 3 new meal plans and over 50 brand new recipes! This book is HUGE and BEAUTIFUL!
If you’re dealing with any sort of health issue, or just looking to stay healthy, then Practical Paleo is the book for you! Diane covers it all and gives you the low down of how you can get your health back on track.
Diane was kind enough to let me giveaway a copy of Practical Paleo 2nd Edition to one of you AND share a recipe from the book!
This Creamy Cauliflower Hummus is SO GOOD and super easy to make! You’ll never know that it’s made without legumes, and it’s a really great way to get in some extra veggies. I’ve been eating it all week with raw and also sautéed veggies and am for sure making another batch as soon as I run out!

Diane’s first book literally changed my life. That was around the time I transitioned to paleo for me and my family and I referred to it as my “paleo bible” I love the recipes but really love the meal plans and the information in the first half of the book. Life changing stuff!
Love hearing that, Sarah!
Practicing a gratitude mindset!!!
Yesssss!! Couldn’t agree more!
To state the obvious.. something that has changed me for the better is my daughter. She had made me more patient, thoughtful, humorous, creative and to find my inner child again. She has also inspired me to live a healthier life to be a better influence and to teach her how important it is to take care of herself and nourish her body.
Love that, Holly!
What has made my life better is a change in my eating lifestyle to paleo.
Love that and couldn’t agree more, Emily!
I loved the first book it thought me how to make delicious meals without over thinking it
Such great recipes in the 1st edition, the 2nd edition is even better!
My life has changed for the better since having kids.
So happy to hear that, Melissa <3
There are so many things that have changed my life for the better, but my daughter would have to be the most amazing. She’s a sassy, curious, science and math loving, almost 8 year old who never fails to make me laugh.
Love that, Erin!
Paleo has changed my life for the better because it helps my Crohns and I stay of Humira.
So great to hear that, Jessica!
Totally not food related, but my best friend and husband is the best thing to ever happen to me. I am more myself now, than I ever was before we were together.
Love that! Doesn’t need to be food related at all 🙂
Love this blog and Insta! Something that’s changed mine (and my sister’s) life for better was transitioning to Paleo at the same time about 6 years ago. But that’s not it- it was us setting up a check system, from two states apart, to hold ourselves accountable, and just stay in touch. It ended up becoming something we do on and off, whenever we feel ourselves slipping, needing to get back on track (and usually around the holidays) for the last 6 years. We know we can text each other and say “hey, been too lax and starting to feel unhealthy/gross/just struggling.. here’s my new plan/simple rule/etc.. check in with me?!” And then we just daily say “how’s it going!?” And have an honest accountability of “shit, I ate a cookie..” “whatever, don’t worry about it! But don’t go nuts now.” Or.. “going to a holiday party.. rule is only 1 kind of dessert… check me!” And then we can hold to it 10,000 better when we know the other is gonna check in. Makes it so much easier to want to be able to say, yup that was easy! For her and for me- we both like to be strong for each other because it’s easier to stick to your goals when someone else is helping you know that you can do it, because they can do it. And when one of us is feeling benefits of being strict, we share to encourage the other. It’s the best support system. 🙂

Seriously couldn’t love this more, thanks for sharing Renee! <3
Something that has changed IN me for the better, is gaining inner strength, patience and resilience while my husband is deployed. While this change isn’t great, it has brought out a strength in me that I didn’t know I had! Making it through this will be a HUGE accomplishment for me, as well as our family as a whole!
Thank you so much for sharing that! I LOVE that you’ve found your strength, despite the challenging times. <3
My husband! When I was diagnosed 4 years ago with my auto immune disease, I decided to try paleo. He bought me the 1st edition of Practical Paleo and its one of my favorites to this day! He holds me accountable and is my cheerleader when it gets tough. I couldn’t do it without him!
What an amazing husband you have, Jessica!
My children changed my life in so many ways, and all of them for the better. Until I had them, I was so one minded and focused on all the wrong things (work, monetary reward, indulgences, etc.). I am a much better person because I decided to become a mom and it was the best decision of my life. I have not tried the Paleo plan, but as a CrossFit enthusiast we hear a lot about its benefits. I’d love the opportunity to read Diane’s 2nd Edition and try to incorporate this healthy lifestyle for the benefit of my family and our well being.
Love that, Kristen!
My life have changed for the better since starting to listen to podcasts a few months ago! Getting a daily dose of motivation, personal development, or health tips always gives me a positive spin the rest of the day and I truly feel like I’m working on becoming the best version of myself! (PS I love the Balanced Bites podcast and would LOVE the 2nd edition!)
Totally agree, I love Podcasts and also love the BB podcast 🙂
Congratulations Brittany, you’re the lucky winner! I’ve sent you an email!
Having a baby has changed my life for the better, in so many different ways. But one event that has had a major lasting impression is when my brand new, exclusively breastfed baby was having bloody stool, I learned that he was having an allergy to something I was eating that was being transferred through my milk. After doing an elimination diet to pinpoint the foods, I realized he couldn’t have corn, soy, gluten, or dairy. A friend introduced me to the Paleo diet and my life has been forever changed, and so has my families. I have loved learning and sharing yummy and healthy recipes with loved ones, and raising a Paleo baby. My health has also improve so much because of what happened with my baby. This cookbook looks wonderful, fingers crossed!
What an amazing story, thank you for sharing!
Getting into graduate school to further my education in something that allows me to help people every day. The people im surrounded with and get to work with are inspirational and make me want to be a better person. Its changed the way I see things, view others and believe in myself.
Love that, Caitlin!
There’re three things that changed my life: being diagnosed with lupus, reading the Bible and The Alchemist, and joining Instagram. Having lupus is a challenge as my joints are in a constant state of pain. I get spiritual comfort and blessings from reading my bible and passages from The Alchemist. Instagram opened up a new world to me. I’ve connected with people facing the same challenges and making some great friendships along the way.
Love, love, love this <3
