One of the most important and often missing pieces to true healing, is the healing of your mind. As we’ve often talked about, the mind is powerful and creating a healing mindset does take work. However, creating this mindset is essential to your healing journey and needs to be addressed. Today, I am going to share with you the tools I’ve used over the years to create the healing mindset that has brought me to where I am today – happy, healthy and thriving!
Affirmations
One of the best ways to reprogram your mind is through affirmations. This is how I’ve built the unbreakable mindset that I have today, and it’s also what led to deep, inner healing. I use affirmations all the time, even to this day. The more you do this, the easier it will become!
Examples of affirmations: (Use only what rings true for you, or create your own.)
- I am healthy, I am strong, I am confident.
- My well-being is my highest priority and everything else will follow.
- I am safe and I am so loved.
- Healing is the best love that I can give to myself.
- I deserve to be healthy, happy, and successful.
- My immune system is strong. My body is so resilient!
- I deserve to live a life full of joy.
Once you have your affirmation(s), write it/them out on a card/piece of paper where you’ll see it multiple times a day. A suggestion would be taping it to your bathroom mirror or computer. Now, say these words over and over and over and over. You can repeat your affirmation(s) out loud or silently to yourself (I suggest trying both).
The thoughts that we think and the words that we say are what become our reality.
The more that you say these positive affirmations to yourself, the more your life will change. I know this to be true, as I’ve witnessed this in my own life countless times.
If you’re thinking this is too “easy”… I get it. We humans tend to overcomplicate things, but I can promise that if you stick with this and turn it into a habit, your life will change for the better.
After all, what do you have to lose by trying?
Visualization
Ahhh, the power of visualization. It’s an easy one to write off, as just like affirmations, it almost seems too simple. Yet, I’m here to tell you … it’s incredibly powerful.
I used the power of visualization to manifest the life that I have today. Back when I was so sick, I would visualize myself healthy and thriving. I have no doubt that this is part of why I am so healthy today!
If you’re struggling, here’s something you can do right now that will help:
- Think back on a time when you felt amazing. It could even be a brief moment where you felt fulfilled, healthy, or peaceful (insert any feelings that are true for you).
- Take some time to really FEEL what that was like.
- Now, visualize what you want your life to look like. What are you doing? What are you wearing? Who are you with?
- Finally, combine that feeling with what you visualize your life to look like. Take the time to really soak this in, and remember this feeling and visualization anytime that you can use it.
Creating this practice for myself helped to transform my life. Back when I was sick, I would visualize myself healthy and full of life, walking on the beach with my husband in Maui. I watched this scene play out in my mind countless times every single day.
With time, I came to realize that visualizing myself healthy and really feeling what it was like was a key player in creating a healing mindset, which led to my physical healing.
Meditation
Meditation has changed every aspect of my life, and I have no doubt that it can do the same for you. While I’ve always seen myself as a fairly calm human, meditation has taken this to a whole new level! It’s really helped to keep me in a healing mindset.
At the time of writing this, I’ve meditated daily for the past 2+ years and I can’t imagine ever stopping. Before I turned this into a habit, I struggled with ever making it past the two week point. This is how I know that if I can do it, you can too!
If you’re wondering where to start with this, be sure to check out my post all about meditation. This is where I dove into busting the myth of what most believe meditation to be and what it looks like for me. Plus, I share my simple tips for turning this into a daily habit.
Learning to Believe in What’s Possible
As I’ve found through my own experience, we’re often the first ones to get in our own way and it’s also easy to turn others’ limiting beliefs into our own reality.
For years, I constantly had others telling me that I would never heal and that I needed to accept my life for what it was. For a period of time, I believed this to be true as these words were coming from medical professionals who I trusted. I even applied for permanent disability because I was so sick. It was nearly impossible for me to see that I would ever get to the point where I could fully show up for life again. Over time, I became so tired of listening to others’ limiting beliefs and decided that I was going to write my own story. I then made the decision to do whatever it would take to heal and that I would be healthier than I had ever been before. This changed everything.
While we don’t always have a say in what happens to us, we can always choose how we respond.
These are the tools that I used to create my own healing mindset and this is what set me on the path to where I am today. I’m now healthy, thriving, full of energy, and am living life on my terms. There is truly nothing better, and I hope the same for you, too!
