How to Commit to a Healthy Lifestyle

Feb 27, 2023 · Leave a Comment

It’s our very first Q+A Monday! Today we’re talking all about how to mentally commit to a healthy lifestyle.

This question came from a recent survey that I sent out, where Lydia asked:

I just really want to know how you were able to mentally commit to living a healthy lifestyle. When everything makes me feel sick, it makes me not want to restrict my diet anymore. Why would it matter when I feel crappy no matter what?

This question instantly took me back to a time in my own life when I was really struggling with my health and I too believed that everything was making me feel terrible.

What I came to realize was that this wasn’t actually true.

As I learned, something feeling true and something being true are two very different scenarios, and it’s important to understand the difference.

The problem for me was that I was eating and doing things on a consistent basis that made me feel awful. This made it impossible for me to see what was and wasn’t working.

For example, back when I tried just eating gluten-free, I didn’t notice much of a difference at all. This made me believe that it couldn’t be gluten that was affecting me. Then, when I hit rock bottom and tried Paleo in 2013, I found that this is what worked wonders for helping my body heal. Going gluten-free simply wasn’t enough to help my body at the time.

When it comes to committing to a healthy lifestyle,…

It all really comes down to a mindset shift and learning to ask yourself the right questions.

This is what we’re diving into in today’s brand new video.

If committing to your health feels hard or you feel like you just can’t stick with it, there’s nothing wrong with you. This is just a big sign that it’s time to switch things up!

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • My story with having the belief that “nothing was working” and what finally shifted this
  • How I easily commit to making healthy changes (hint: it’s all about the short term)
  • Why having hope is important, but having a strategy is critical to your success
  • Power questions to ask yourself that will help you commit to living a healthier lifestyle

The thing is, diet changes alone are rarely enough to heal, and to stick with any positive changes, they can’t (and shouldn’t) feel restrictive. These are all things I learned along the way as I healed my own body over a decade ago.
