I know how hard it is to feel stuck in the same place with your health, week after week, month after month. Feeling like your health isn’t where you want it to be is frustrating. That’s why today we’re diving into how to move the needle and try something new!
I know that in my journey from sickness to health, I often felt scared to try something new for fear of it not working. I had a pit in my stomach just thinking about how disappointed I’d feel after trying yet another diet or lifestyle change only to have it not make any difference.
This thought process is what I now like to call “future tripping.”
“Future tripping” is when you think about the possibility of something not working out… and that something doesn’t even exist in real life yet. You’re projecting the worst-case scenario!
Do you know what happens when you’re stuck in the worst-case scenario? It more often than not means that you end up creating it as your reality, because your brain is so focused on this outcome already being true.
The reality, and what took me a long time to learn, is that the only way to know if something will work or not is to lean into the uncertainty of trying something new.
What I’ve found that’s helped me in this scenario is to recognize that everything we try, and each time we fall and pick ourselves back up… it’s all part of the process of life. And better yet, it all leads to a super interesting life story! And really, who wants a boring life story?
This mindset shift changed the entire way that I looked at what it meant to try something new. Instead of dreading it, I now realize that I have the opportunity to embrace it!
I know firsthand that it isn’t always easy, but finding what works for you is what makes it all worth it. The only way to get there is to be willing to try something new.
