Mike and I are back with another epic taste test! This time we dove into the world of dairy-free cheese, trying eleven different types of “cheddar cheese.” Hope you enjoy and find this dairy free cheese taste test helpful!
Back when I first changed my diet in 2013, one of the things that I did to help to heal my gut was to eliminate dairy for a solid 2 years. I’ve always LOVED cheese, but I never dove into any of the cheese alternatives, as all of the brands that I came across had super sketchy ingredients.
As it turns out, some brands have come a long way since then, annnnd some still use ingredients that I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to eat. But hey, that’s why we’re trying them out for you!
There is a far greater variety of brands and flavors of dairy-free cheese out there today, then there was back then, so we put them to our ultimate taste test!

Not only did Mike and I taste each of the dairy-free cheeses on their own, but we also put them to the melt test! I mean, who wouldn’t want nachos & a grilled cheese? It was fascinating to see how each cheese melted (if it melted at all), and how the flavor and texture changed.
All in all, we had a very clear winner and some that I’m wondering who approved them to be any sort of “cheese” in the first place, haha. As with every taste test that we do, our goal is to save you time and money and I truly hope that this dairy-free cheese taste test does just that.
