How to Create Lasting Change

From my own experience I know that change can be REALLY uncomfortable, which is why so many seem to avoid it. In reality, if change were easy, everybody would do it.

Anything that has ever pushed me far outside of my comfort zone has always completely changed my life for the better, and for that, it’s ALWAYS worth it. I’ve learned how to sustain diet changes, build a business that I love, stick to my training goals, plus so much more, all by using the three steps that I’ve shared below!

Here are my three tips on how to create lasting change in my own life, which I use on a daily basis:

  1. Know your WHY

I know what it’s like to be sick, depressed and feel hopeless. Because of my experiences I aim to help as many others as possible through the lessons that I’ve learned. I don’t want anyone else to have to suffer like I did. This is my WHY. It is the backbone of everything that I do.

I believe that in order for changes to truly last your “why” needs to be so good that no excuse can get in the way. My “why” is about so much more than just myself, it’s about changing others’ lives for the better – and this is exactly why I don’t let any excuse get in the way of my goals.

My biggest suggestion is to write out your “why” and put it somewhere that you see it multiple times a day. It may sound silly to some, but I write my “why” out on an index card and carry it with me everywhere. It always helps to center my mind throughout the day and bring me back to what I’m here to do.

  1. Set Reminders

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you” The image above is exactly what’s on the locked screen of my phone, and it’s one of the best reminders that I see every single day. It’s my reminder that when life gets uncomfortable, as it often does, that only means that I can use it to change my life for the better.

I also have a couple reminders that automatically go off on my phone during the day. One is to be fearless, and one is to find the good in everything. Some days are easier than others, and on the more challenging days, I find these reminders make all the difference.

  1. Carry it With You

A good friend of mine gave me a Mantra Band with the word “fearless” written on it. I wear this bracelet nearly everyday and it’s one of my most treasured gifts because it has such a deep meaning. Fear is something that comes up in my mind all the time, and it’s a constant reminder to push past my fears, no matter what.

Fear typically comes up with any sort of challenge, but I believe that if you want to change your life, you have to learn to push past it. If you want more help in pushing past your fears, be sure to check out my VIDEO!

Whenever I’m questioning whether I should take a chance and go after something that I want, I always remind myself – better an oops than a what if!

Hi! I’m Kristen.

After being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease at the age of 12, I’ve come to learn that while we don’t always have control over what happens to us, we can always control how we respond and what we do next.
