Little By Little

Change can feel completely overwhelming, and overwhelm can stop you from moving forward at all. I know that I’ve felt this way during many different times in my life! This is why big changes need to be broken down into much smaller, more manageable steps. This idea always reminds me of one of my favorite quotes that I live by – little by little, a little becomes a lot.

My hubby (Mike) and I decided recently that we wanted to redecorate and re-do many parts of our house. We bought our home nearly 10 years ago (this coming May!) and felt like it was time to switch things up.

Getting all new furniture, flooring, kitchen countertops, clearing out closets, and more, is A LOT, so it was then that I realized that taking it one small step at a time was really the only way that any of it would ever happen. Little changes add up to massive progress!

The other night, I started with one small step forward and cleaned out and organized my coat closet downstairs. It’s something that seems SO small, and yet it had the most powerful impact. It signifies CHANGE. Mike also bought a box of the new flooring that we want to install, so that we can test it out with our dog’s paws (basically to make sure that they don’t destroy it while they chase each other around, haha).

I’m a HUGE believer that in order for something to be possible, we first have to be able to visualize it. Seeing the closet organized and new flooring laid has completely shifted my mindset.

Both of these things may seem like small changes from the outside, but they’ve completely shifted my mindset and made everything so much more manageable. The small changes are making the big changes possible – one step at a time.

What’s something that’s felt overwhelming in your own life? Sit down and write out just one step that you can take in order to start moving towards this goal. THAT will change everything, because little by little, a little becomes a lot!

Have a beautiful weekend!
