As a kid, I did everything that I could to be just like Claudia from The Baby-Sitters Club…who remembers her?! She was the girl that ALWAYS had loads of candy hidden around her room, which she brought out when her friends came over. I thought that was soooo cool, so I did exactly that, and candy simply became a way of life.
Fast forward to being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at the age of 12, and suddenly going from a “normal” kid, to being admitted to the hospital and being taken off of food. Years later, as an adult, this way of life caught up with me. By that point I’d had my entire large intestine removed and was on yet another round of antibiotics for yet another severe sinus infection. I was craving sugar all. the. time. Despite my love for sugar, I decided to just go for it. After all, it’s 21 days…and as I’ve learned, the time will pass either way.
